Slave

I woke up early at dawn. I quickly ran and fired up the hypocaust to keep the chill from my master's room. He was always irritable when he was cold. I waited for him to step out of his quarters but he didn't. Nervously, I sauntered into the dining room. And there he was. He shouted at me loudly, pointing out that I had not helped him get dressed or served him food. I realised I had woke up late delirious, and tired from the day before's work. He gave me 5 hard lashes with his whip and I cried out. Crimson blood poured from my wounds. I bit my lower lip and held back tears. I staggered into my room and made to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror was worse. My rags were torn and there deep cuts and gashes on my back, legs and arms. I was a mess. My vision swam and black spots danced before my eyes. The last thing I remember was a big bald man scooping me up into his strong arms before I blacked out. Let me explain how I landed up here. The name is Surrey. I was born to a p...

Death By Death (part 1)

I was running out of tine. The man vaulted over the low wall and took off, sprinting towards the cemetery. I chases after him weaving through the crowd. I was not going to give. He seemed just as determined and his pace didn't weaken. We were on Bridge of Blood. It was called that because it had no railings on either side. You fell straight down and plummeted to the rapids below. Finally I reached the cemetery. The man had already dug up the grave and the mud was scattered all around him. He clutched the box tightly as he took off. I finally cut him off. We both stood eagerly on the bridge. He put the box on the side before strolling towards me. He laughed and then slammed into me. I skidded backwards before attacked me with a barrage of punches. I gasped for air, barely able to hold my ground. Like lightning, he struck me and then swept my feet from under me. I looked over the edge to see the river crashing against the sharp rocks which glinted in the moonlight. He gave me sligh...

The Man In Black(1)

The man in the dark overcoat walked swiftly but stealthily down the dark alleyway. It wasn't the place you would usually want to be in. After dark it was dangerous. The place came alive. Teenagers came out with knives. Joyriders sped fancy cars and skid around in the dark nearly splattering pedestrians on the sidewalk. But he was not affected by his surroundings. It was as if he a zombie. Except he held a huge leather suitcase. The man was Ford Sten. He was a in his early twenties but he look much older. Ford looked like he had been born in shoes. He blended in with his surroundings and no one gave him a second glance. Ford stepeod over a shard of glass and kept on going. He was headed toward 'Kellien Club' a run down club just opposite the country bar. I lowered my binoculars and watched him almost sprint to the club. I wondered what Ford was up to. We were top mates in school, and after college his parents died. They had been going for a movie and the car had crashed. B...

Insane Part 4 (THE END)

EDWARD PAGE Sarah and I walked nervously to the black van. I opened the door and relaxed against the soft smooth leather. But not for long. We had to go, it was show time. I pulled beside an Aston Martin parked at the back of the building. We opened the back of the car and I go out the guns and ammunition. We headed in, grenades, bullets and guns strapped to our backs. I waited a while and then motioned Sarah forward. She nodded and lay on her belly in the grass. Pulling out a sniper rifle she took aim and fired at the guards in the watchtower. Dennis McMohan the founder of MI5. The man who had killed my wife and children in cold blood. Shot 'em in the head. I watched them die it was agony. My mind screamed at the thought. Dennis was going done today. I was gonna make him watch his whole family die. Revenge was sweet. SARAH ADAMS I took out the guards in the watchtowers but it didn't help. I still felt like I was going to fail the mission and die. But I moved on. I cr...

The Half-Dead Hero

Sir Robert whipped his horse. It neighed and wildly galloped forward, down the hill, towards the safe house. It stopped so abruptly at the entrance that he nearly flew off. He grabbed the reins to steady himself , let go and then swung himself off. Narod, his most trusted advisor, greeted him at the door. "Sir," he said. "You must see this remarkably horrifying thing." They walked in and Narod flicked his wrist. A holograph formed in front of the him. It was of the city. A red bar shot upwards out of a an old abandoned building. Sir Robert tapped it twice and names, pictures, videos, recordings, articles and names of people and their files appeared. "A kidnapping," explained Sir Robert. "OMG. Caleb and Gillian held hostage at the building." The building was five miles east of the safe house. He could make it in time before their execution if he hurried. Narod merely folded his arms and walked away to open the weapons' shed. * Naro...

Insane Part 3

EDWARD PAGE "I found you inside the underground passageway of the prison", I said. "Who are you and why the hell were you there." I looked at the young woman. Dark intelligent eyes, pale skin and blond hair. I had chained her to a wall. "Sarah Adams", the woman said. "My husband attempted to kill me. I shot him in the head. I was thrown out of SAS and wanted to be on the winning side so i came to find you, disguised as a private detective." Should I believe her? Or should i kill right now? I had a gun in my hand. But it was true. I did need a partner. I still didn't trust her. Then it hit me. I would make her go through a series of tests to see if she really had been part of the SAS and would check if she would leak information if in a particular situation. I grinned at her. I watched as Sarah dissembled and then put the gun back together. She loaded the gun raised it, and fired at the target. "Good shot!" I exclaimed. ...

Insane Part 2

Sarah walked stiffly out the door. She stood on the street waiting for taxi . When it finally pulled next to her she sat inside and the said, " Mental Asylum: Maniac max."  The driver turned around and stared as if she was crazy. " Detective", she said. The driver nodded and drove slowly around the block and pulled of the highway. The car bumped along the dirt path that lead to the mental asylum. There was a sign hung up nearby. Tresspassers will be prosecuted. Sarah leaned back and thought about the meeting. She had been recruited by MI6 as an agent. Operation Insane was classified HIGH RISK but Sarah had always been a little bit different from the time she born. She loved the rush she felt of the mix of emotions. Fear, excitement, and love for danger. This was just the beginning she reminded herself. It was getting crazier by the moment. She was to act as Page's accomplice and infiltrate the MI6 headquarters and at the last moment, turn him in. It was...

Insane Part 1

His skin was pale and his clothes were soaked in crimson. His skin began to feel cold against my gloved hands so I let go of him and he sagged to the ground, his body limp. His arms and legs were spread out in awkward angles and you could easily tell he was dead. I didn’t feel guilty and didn’t feel the least bit sad for him. I walked off, the mist curling around my ankles. Ex-private detective Sarah Adams straightened out the newspaper and read the front page headlines out loud, even though there was no one else in the house. It read: CELEBRITY JOHN ANDERSON FOUND DEAD AND ESCAPE FROM MENTAL ASYLUM! COULD THEY BE CONNECTED?  Sarah took off her glasses and wiped them of before putting them back on. The article said that Edward Page, an agent in the SAS Special Ops, had lead a depressed life after his wife Lucy died. This marked the end of his military career. He wasn’t able to bear this and swore that one day the world would touch his feet and bow to him. He went on a rampage ...

A New Phone

We were having the best time of our lives. My family and i had gone to Paris for the summer vacation. My mother insisted on going to Louis Vuitton because 'the purses had come from heaven.' Mum just loved the purse. So there we were standing outside that 'heavenly' shop. Dad, my brother and me. Mum was busy marvelling at the purses. We were bored. Fortunately, we spotted an electronics store. Fnac was just around the corner. As we entered I spotted all this neat stuff, like, the Galaxy S5, the iPhone 5C and 5S and of course, the iPad Air. But then i saw a new case for my phone. It was clean white. Awesome! Well it wasn't a cover actually, it was the thingy on the back which covers the battery. My dad said yes and so we bought it. Dad is awesome. He came up with this great idea. We would trick my mother into thinking I had bought a new phone by playing a super hd video. This way she would think the definition is much better than my 'old' phone. I have...

Bored

Just a week ago, my mother ordered the book I really wanted. Usually it takes forever to arrive but this time it came the next day. The vacations had started and I had nothing to do. I was dying to start reading but my mother said I was not allowed until we left for France. Just to torture me more the books were kept in my closet. Being the nice truthful boy that I am, I didn't even touch it. It has been a week now, and I am still dying to read it. Till now the series has been awesome, fast-paced and probably the best series I have ever read. It takes a lot of control to not even read the synopsis. Ha! Bet you aren't able to do what I can. Stuck!

It was just yesterday when I had gone to Phoenix Mills and was stuck there. After doing some timepass in the mall, we emerged from the gate. My dad had the car and there was no driver for the other. So we had taken a cab to get there. As usual, the first few taxi drivers said no. But then, after some time, it became a nuisance. Not even the Meru cab drivers said yes. Oh, and by the way, it is not like building is far. It was a 5 minute drive, just around the block. So we were tired. We came up with a different strategy., My mother would open the door and we would jump inside. That way, he couldn't throw us out and you can't drive with a door open. But we were wrong. They didn't care. As soon as we came close they would drive away. My mother managed to get the door open twice but they just drove away. So we had to shut the door for them as they might have broken the doors. Finally I just got fed up and suggested we walk. Of course, I wasn't serious. We had taken to m...

Crime City

"You'll never win", said the forlorn banker. "The money is ours." "It's a 9 millimeter caliber bullet John. It will penetrate your skull and kill on contact with brain." "You're going to kill me?" said the banker, surprised. "Yes if you don't cooperate. Tell us where it is and we will leave you alone. I just want you to know if you don't tell me, I won't hesitate to pull the trigger", declared the gangster, already sure of his victory. The banker swallowed and began to sweat. He remained silent for a long time. Too long. "Dammit!" roared the gangster. He slammed John's head on the table. "Okay, okay", said John, holding up his hands in surrender. "It is underneath the painting but require my fingerprint." In a fluid motion, the gangster took aim and pulled the trigger. Drake produced a Swiss army knife. "Shall we Master?" he asked, waiting patiently for an answ...

Atlantis

The car bumped along the road towards the red bricked house. Amy and Max sat in the back, huge smiles stretched onto their faces. Max was listening to music. He nodded his head to the beat. Amy, on the other hand was reading ‘The Alchemist’. The car screeched to a halt. They had arrived. The huge farmhouse stood, as if it were a king, occupying as much space as possible. Max and Amy stepped out of the car, which gleamed in the glare of the sun. The farmhouse stood, about twenty metres away. It seemed to be towering over them, as they rang the doorbell. A man with grey hair, who was well into his sixties, answered the door. He smiled and greeted them. They stepped into the house. The room was cool unlike the outside. Uncle John and Aunt Mary came and they gave them a warm hug. Aunt Mary asked Alfred to get them ‘The Surprise.’ Alfred hurried into the kitchen and came out holding a plate. Steam rose off the edges and he placed it on the table. For a second Max and Amy just ...

Muffin

Image
My dog's name is Muffin and we adopted her when she was three months old. She is a golden retriever. She has about ten siblings in all. Like her, they too had all been adopted. She had long white fur to begin with but, the breed name makes it obvious that this breed have golden fur. But her previous owner had said she will turn the colour of her ears. Of course, he was right. All golden retrievers shed a lot of fur in childhood and as adulthood approaches, the fur begins to turn golden. She grows fast, is cute and, (just like Labradors*) playful. I hate to admit it, but she is also kinda lazy. While I am at school, she sleep. When I return home, she is excited and full of energy. Muffin comes to me and puts her ball in my hand, pleading me to play fetch with her. The problem is I play with her but she doesn't know how to give it back. I mean, she tries to give me whatever we are playing with but misses out a tiny, but the most crucial part. She doesn't let go. So I have th...

A Devious Plot

I couldn't believe my eyes. Spread out in front of me was the auction house. The auctioneer brought the hammer down and I yelled in frustration. I could almost see the devilish smile on his face. TWO HOURS EARLIER I hated history. Why do we learn about dead people who don't exist anymore? It just didn't make sense! " ...And yes Billy it is on auction today." Mrs. Jones sighed. "Anymore questions?" Mrs. Jones knew me well. She knew I disliked history and never paid attention. "Aakash?" she said. Straightening up, I inquired, "What is on auction and is it coming on TV?" Mrs. Jones shook her head and said for the umpteenth time," The painting's auction is coming on TV." The bell rang. I was relieved. Freedom at last! As I ran to the bus I saw a few girls giggling and whispering. " Do you know Tom Cruise is coming to the auction? one said dreamily. " I am so gonna watch it!" I fixed myself a snack...

IT GIVES ME THE CREEPS!

The car bumped along the road. George and Amy sat in the back. They were bored. Occasionally George would try to strike up conversation but "Knock it of dummy", was the only answer he'd get. Finally, they arrived. George stepped out of the car, all shades and everything. He wore a t-shirt and rumpled shorts. He had spiked, short, ice-blond hair. Amy on the other hand wore a leather jacket, camouflage pants and combat boots. The only simarity between them (brother and sister by the way) was that they both looked BORED. And when I say BORED I mean REALLY BORED! Anyway George stood on the front porch, Amy stomping after him, muttering words that would earn her a good week's suspension at school. She rang the doorbell. It was answered by an elderly man in his late forties. Max, the butler. "Ohhhh....." he groaned, trying to hide his disappointment. "Come in, come in, your grandparents have been waiting." He led them in to the living room. A few loung...

An Autobiography Of A Tennis Racket

I am a tennis racket. I was born at the factory 'Rocking Rackets along with my friends and family. I was shipped to Mumbai. It took a week to reach there. When I reached, I was taken to Total Sports. Everybody got a sticker. My sticker said 'Wilson' on it. Anyway, the shop was always full of people and buzzing with activity. Customers would come and go. But nothing is permanent. After two or three months, it started to get boring. One day, a famous man walked in. He wore expensive clothes and was followed around by a crowd, which were begging for his autograph. It was the one and only, Leander Paes. I couldn't believe my eyes! A tennis player had actually come to our jolly little shop. He actually came over to me, took a couple of swings and bought me saying I was the best racket he had ever laid eyes upon. It was like a dream come true! Leander won every single match while using me. He even won the cup! I was actually quite pleased with m...

The Endgame Part1

I only have a few hours so listen carefully. The world is in grave danger and its fate is in my hands. Okay, here goes. It all started when I set fire to my sandwich. We had all gone for lunch in the cafeteria.(I was in school). Anyway I brought my lunch to my table and sat down to eat. I was chatting away with my friends and was so deep in conversation I didn't notice the kid coming through. He was one of the bullies. My leg was in his way. This kid he sees my foot and gets an idea. So he decides to trip on it. He trips on it, drops his lunch and blames everything on me. What a guy! Anyway, he starts punching me. Now, I'm not the kind who loves fighting, so I ignore him. Still, I can feel something building up inside me, like a pump of adrenaline just way stronger. So, thinking I may not be able to control whatever it is I just try eating my sandwich. And that's when IT happened. Sparks began flying around and that's also when I saw it. The sandwich was on fire! Ki...

oH mY GOD

oWcH!     I woke up with a throbbing pain in my mouth. I looked around and saw a bunch of doctors staring at me with concerned looks. My right hand was feeling extremely weak. There was a tube attached to right hand. Feeling drowsy, I took a nap. When I woke up next, I was in a bed. This time I was dizzy. I tried to get up but found I couldn't - the tube on my hand. My parents stood over me. Then everything started coming back. The doctors. The anaesthesia. The surgery. The extraction. My teeth! With my tongue, I quickly felt around in my mouth. They were gone for real! I just couldn't bring myself to believe it. And that too, they had betrayed me. They had told me only 2 teeth has to be removed, but, had actually taken out 4. Goodness. Anyway I was more worried about school. Everything: work, friends, football and most of all the Annual Sports Day. Would I be allowed? Plus, I was in relay. I couldn't let my house down again this year. We just ha...
